“It all goes back to not giving up though. But trust me there have been days I have cried and wanted to give up. But I have so many dreams and was blessed with talent that I refuse to hide from the world."
“Hey what’s up y’all! It’s me C. Alexandra!! I’m currently 23 years old living out my dream in the city of Atlanta, GA. If you head over to my Instagram, @iamcalexandra , you’ll get to see a part of my life as I attempt to make a name for myself in the journalism world.”
“If I had to say what I do exactly, my title would be a “Freelance Multimedia Journalist”. Which means, I’m a writer, producer, publicist, correspondent, and most importantly a business woman. I had my start in the journalism world in 2016 working at a radio station called Sensation Station Network. Little did I know the following year, I would be working at Rolling Out Magazine in Atlanta, GA! That is when everything changed.”
“What sets me apart from others hustling to make a name for themselves in the journalism world, are two things! Dedication and Networking! I simply won’t give up, and I was blessed with a creative mindset so I’m constantly thinking of new ideas which always keeps my content fresh and helps me stand out. I have some dope mentors in the game who have taught me the business side of things as well, and honestly everyday is a learning experience. There’s never a dull moment.”
“Journalism doesn’t grant you job security sometimes, so it is a constant daily hustle. That’s why I say freelance, because I’m constantly working and taking on new jobs and networking. One of these days, I know I will land something huge though.”
“It all goes back to not giving up though. But trust me there have been days I have cried and wanted to give up. But I have so many dreams and was blessed with talent that I refuse to hide from the world. I keep God first, and I try to work unto Him. When your work becomes selfish that’s when you become discouraged. But journalism is amazing to me because I love hearing the different stories, and most importantly you realize that behind the celebrity image they are truly human beings.”
“Journalism isn’t 'just it' for me though. I have entrepreneurial dreams of owning my own clothing/jewelry brand, dreams of hosting my own show, continuing my love for competing in pageants, and eventually working on my acting career. One step at a time though. You must pace yourself or you will burn yourself out. Accept your journey for what it is, and know that everything will eventually unfold.”
“I would tell myself ‘BE PATIENT GIRL, and chill out’. I used to worry so much. But now, I almost love the uncertainty of my career because I never know who I may meet that week or what opportunity may come my way. One thing I would tell others though is always give your 100% each time, because you never know who’s watching, and lastly have enough confidence in yourself that people should compensate you for the value of your work. Internships are great, and much needed! But know your value, sometimes you have to make your own path.”
