The Ultimate Trifecta: This Art Director talks Design, Creative Control + Emotional Health

My biggest battle as a business owner and just in my personal life has been my

emotional health.

"My name is Asha Elise, I'm 30 years old, I'm from Atlanta, GA., & my biz IG is @asha.elise.design. I help new or established brands grow through the creative design of logos, websites, packaging, and more. I consider myself an artist at heart and a designer by trade. Working for myself has been the best decision I’ve ever made for my life and my spirit."

"Some recognizable names I’ve worked with are Tyra Banks, 21Ninety, Blavity, Headspace (app) and more. The most memorable and invaluable of them all was working with Tyra. It was the first design job I got when I moved to LA and I was able to work with her side by side on a daily basis. The most memorable and invaluable of them all was working with Tyra. It was the first design job I got when I moved to LA and I was able to work with her side by side on a daily basis. My favorite project I’ve worked on so far was one that I actually created all by myself. It’s called Lit, a fashion brand for edgy women."

"I loved it mainly because I had complete creative control (no clients! lol) and I pushed my creative boundaries. The project was picked up and featured on multiple design platforms and publications."

"My biggest battle as a business owner and just in my personal life has been my

emotional health. Since I can remember, I’ve been angry and impatient for seemingly no reason at all. I also used to be pain stakingly shy, my behavior being misinterpreted for rudeness, causing more anger within myself. These personality issues have been with

me since I was a child and I only recently discovered that I suffer from an anxiety

disorder that makes it more difficult for me to effectively communicate my emotions.

Along with that, I suffered from random spurts of nausea and dizziness for years due to the disorder. Since taking control of my emotional health, my business and personal life has sky rocketed. I started talking with a doctor, and taking medication, and investing in

my spiritual well-being."

"Portfolio. Portfolio. Portfolio. It’s all about that. Put together your best top 5 projects (or more) and showcase them in a beautiful way online. If you don’t have any projects yet, create some yourself! Re-brand a well-known business or product for fun, create a business for yourself and brand that - so many things you can do. From there, start marketing yourself - outreach. LinkedIn, Instagram, Behance are all my go-to’s."
